Information about Vars

Vars ski resort, also known as La Forêt Blanche, is one of the largest skiable areas in the South of the French Alps. French Alps, offering more than 185 km of slopes for skiing and snowboarding. The ski area is located in the District of Briançon (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Hautes-Alpes) very close to the border with the Italian Alps.


Whether you are a beginner or advanced skier, it is likely that you have never heard of skiing in Vars. How is it possible that it is relatively unknown? Have a look at everything it has to offer!


Due to its altitudes of 1,650 between and 2,750 m, the snow conditions are very good and the prices more than reasonable. Did you know that it is one of the best resorts to learn to ski? And also to improve your technique!
Most of the ski slopes in Vars are easy and intermediate, with 75 km of green and blue slopes, 90 km of red slopes and only 20 km of black slopes. In addition, there is a great team of professionals located in the resort. They are always ready to give you a hand.

In March 2023, French skier Simon Billy managed to descend the Chabrières piste, located at 2.720 meters, reaching a top speed of 255 km/h, setting a new world record in speed skiing. Since the early 1990s, the resort has hosted the biggest names in freeride, freestyle, speed skiing and snowboarding.
