The Aletsch Arena welcomes families with a refreshing breeze of aromatic alpine air. Characteristic Valais country houses and idyllic chalets and hotels give the valley villages and alpine farms closed to cars a very special characteristic charm.

The Aletsch Glacier has a length of 20 km, an average width of 1,800 m and an area of about 78.5 km² that houses an impressive volume of 11,000 million tons of ice. Its ice masses descend from the northern slopes of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains in the direction of the valley, in the Valais, until its waters flow into the Rhône through the untamed Massa Gorge. In 2001, the Swiss Alps Jungfrau–Aletsch region was included in the list of UNESCO World Natural Heritage Sites as a landscape of extraordinary beauty.

Halfway between the valley and the sky are the sunny terraces of the Fiescheralp, Bettmeralp and Riederalp . Six aerial funiculars transport tourists from the Rhône Valley to the holiday resorts and hiking paradise of the Aletsch region at an altitude of around 2,000 m . Here you can continue to the most beautiful panoramic mountains, such as the 2,927m-high Eggishorn, which offers a view of the Aletsch and Fiescher glaciers.

WINTRY

The vast Aletsch ski area (Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiescheralp) has 104 km of slopes , located up to 2,869 m above sea level, and is connected by a series of mountain railways and ski lifts. The offer of its winter centres includes extensive Nordic ski slopes and routes for winter hiking and snowshoe excursions.. And to deliciously round off a day full of sport, nothing better than an exquisite raclette or a fondue accompanied by a glass of Valais white wine.

SUMMER

Summer holidays in the Aletsch region are synonymous with holidays in unspoiled nature, in the middle of an attractive hiking area. In the middle of the alpine landscape is the Villa Cassel, an information centre of the nature protection organization "Pro Natura". Nature lovers find here information about the natural area and offers of courses and excursions. A beautiful high-altitude trail leads from the Riederalp to Villa Cassel and then to the glacier tongue through the Aletsch Forest.
