Luchon Superbagnères

It is a French ski resort located in the town of Bagnères de Luchon and located in the centre of the Pyrenees.

In Luchon you can enjoy both alpine skiing and cross-country skiing.

Luchon Superbagnères has a total of 32 skiable kilometers, divided into 2 green, 13 blue, 7 red and 6 black slopes and a drop that ranges from 1,440 meters to 2,260 meters.

Actually, the resort was built and inaugurated at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, the ski resort connects with the town of Bagnères de Luchon through a gondola with capacity for four people per cabin. The duration of it is 10 minutes and it works both in summer and winter.

In which ski areas is Luchon divided?

In Luchon you can ski along several areas:

Techous ski area: It is the sunniest area of the ski resort, perfect for beginners and children.

Ski Area du Lac: If your thing is to ski between trees, this is what you are looking for. It is a ski area for more advanced skiers, where there are blue, red and black slopes. In addition, this is where the restaurants and most of the resort services are located.

Ski Area du Céciré: It is the highest area of the ski resort and where the longest slopes are found. It is the favorite place for expert skiers, with red and black slopes.

What other activities can you do besides skiing?

In Luchon Superbagnères you will not have time to get bored and it has dozens of activities for both children and adults.

Directly in the Luchon resort itself, specifically on the Plateau de Superbagnères, there are a lot of activities to do during the ski season such as torchlighting, inflatable castles for children, concerts and even DJ performances. It even has its own Music Festival, the Garosnow.

On the other hand, if you are one of those who prefer a bit of relaxation after skiing, you can go to the Vaporium , inaugurated in 1929. It is a natural sulfur hammam and unique in Europe. It has more than 1 kilometer of tunnels dug into the rock and is complemented by the thermal baths of the place. Quite an experience!

At the Vaporium you can relax and recharge for your ski days in Luchon.

If you still want some other activity with a little more action, in Luchon you can also hire snowshoe rides, mushing, mountaineering, natural ice skating or spend a night in an authentic Igloo.

What is the best way to get to Luchon?

- By plane

The closest airport to get to Luchon is Pau , which is only 1 hour and 40 minutes away. However, if you are looking for an airport with a greater variety of flights, Toulouse airport is also very close, 2 hours away by car. From both airports, you can rent cars and get to the ski resort.

- By car

Another way to get to Luchon is in your own vehicle, or a rental car. It is the best way to make your holiday your own way. So pack your bags and start planning your ski holiday in the French Pyrenees!

Whenever you travel by car in the Pyrenees, remember to carry your vehicle correctly equipped with chains, in case the weather turns adverse during your stay.

- By train

For many people, the best way to get to the ski resorts is by train. If you are one of them, in Luchon there are direct links with Toulouse, but the last section is done by bus (from Montréjeau to Luchon).
