After the great success of the last edition in 2016, Baqueira Beret will witness the FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 March, a competition that will be held in the Beret Blanhiblar area , on the Boardercross slope .

It is a spectacular form of snowboarding , in which riders make the exit of the qualifying sleeves in groups of four, on a slope that includes dubbies and cant jumps. A discipline in which certain contact between athletes is allowed during the descent, so that technique, speed and strategy are key elements. The test consists of several qualifying rounds in descents of four riders , where the two fastest pass round until reaching finals.

The layout of the SBX World Cup of Baqueira Beret , 1 km long and an unevenness of 115 m, will compete approximately 40 women and 70 men of which 16 female and 32 male participants will be classified who will fight on Saturday, March 2 in the qualifiers to reach the finals.

Baqueira Beret will host the competition of the International Ski Federation (FIS) with unbeatable conditions, with more than 2 meters of snow at the resort and a benign weather forecast.

Martin Noerl, the male leader

On March 1 and 2, all eyes will be on the German rider Martin Noerl , who currently leads the FIS SBX Men's World Cup with 1,650 points, having achieved first and third place in Cervinia and 26th place in Feldberg, which means that this sport is unpredictable. 25, he has participated in 41 World Cups, where he has achieved 2 podiums, of which 1 victory. The mythical Lindsey Jacobellis leads the women's classification

The first position of the FIS SBX Women's World Cup is held by American Lindsey Jacobellis (33 years old) with 2,800 points. In the classification of the world circuit, the Czech Eva Samkova (2,400 points), 25, occupies the second place in the ranking of the SBX World Cup, followed by the Italian Michaela Moioli , which is third with 1,600 points. Moioli, 23, has participated in 2 Olympics: last year she was declared the winner in PyeongChang'18 (South Korea).

Spanish participation

The SBX Baqueira Beret World Cup will also feature the participation of Regino Hernández and Lucas Eguibar , the two riders who are part of the Royal Spanish Winter Sports Federation (RFEDI). It is a very strong team and with the possibility of finishing among the first classified and even climb the podium. The Andalusian Regino Hernández , (27 years old), of the EOE club of Sierra Nevada, has been the icon of the Spanish snowboard since last season when he hung the bronze medal in the PJJChang'18 Olympics. Currently, it is 38th (127.90 points) in the World Cup circuit.

He already has 51 World Cups . In addition, he has played the Vancouver Olympic Games '10 (31st) and Sochi'14 (21st). Together with Lucas in the World Cup by teams in Montafon'16, he got the first position. As for its history, it holds a podium in the World Cup in La Molina 2014 with 3rd place.
