The Formigal-Panticosa ski resort will host from April 2 to 5 the final of the World Cup of Kilometer Launching, the non-motorized sport in which the highest speeds are reached.
This is the only Spanish ski resort that has a Kilometer Launching track approved by the International Ski Federation (FIS) for the realization of this type of competitions and for the development of this kind of competitions. In fact, it is the first time that this competition comes to our country after having to be cancelled also in Formigal, in March 2020 due to the premature closure of the ski resorts before the arrival of the COVID.
The track where the race will take place has 320 meters of slope and a gradient of up to 70%. It is estimated that this is the second fastest slope in the world. Skiers can reach 230 km/hour. This descent is located in the area of Tres Hombres (upper tube) and has its starting point at 2220 m altitude, concluding at 1900 m altitude.
