Sierra Nevada could open on November 17

The rainfall of these last days has left a large white blanket at the Sierra Nevada resort and we are sure it will open its doors before the official scheduled date , on December 1 . But, it remains to be confirmed what day it will be and although Cetursa has not communicated anything, it would be logical that the opening date be advanced.

According to merchants in Padrollano and ski school workers, Sierra Nevada plans to open on November 17 . Opening that day would mean the earliest date of the season in recent years. It has even been rumored about trying to open this next weekend , but it is very difficult to have the entire season ready.

Likewise, the conditions for the opening of the resort are ideal . It has even snowed again copiously in the last few hours and thicknesses of a meter and a half of snow accumulate in Borreguiles and 25 cm in Pradollano . Also, the low temperatures have allowed to start the production of snow (which has been in operation for more than a week) and the slopes that had enough snow have already been trodden and there are several ski lifts that are already working, including the 2 cable cars.

This year although Sierra Nevada wants to open as soon as possible it will not be the first ski resort in Spain to do so, this honor has been taken by the Masella resort that opened on November 1 with 37 ski slopes and 34 km .
