The piste connection between Pal and Arinsal will allow skiing on more than 80 km of slopes.
The works of the new six-people chairlift Port Negre de Pal Arinsal continue to advance with the aim of being able to open it as soon as the ski season starts next December, provided the right conditions are met. The major consul of La Massana, Olga Molné, has assured the Diari d'Andorra that the civil work of the ski lift is already done and that in the next days they will begin to place the cable to later hang the chairs of six people each.
The investment has been 8 million euros, which includes the purchase of the ski lift itself, as well as the installation in Pal Arinsal. A project which would not have been possible if the ski resort had not been integrated into SETAP 365, the company which also includes ENSISA, the manager of Soldeu- el Tarter.
Thanks to this joint venture, it has been possible to carry out an operation that was in the interest of both ski resorts. Pal Arinsal has had a new chairlift with more capacity than the previous Port Negre, while El Tarter has kept the old 4-people lift and fixed clamp to place it in Encampadana, where this device is sufficient for the new slopes that have been created in that area, mostly for a user with a good level of skiing.
In fact the hand of SETAP365 already began to be noticed last year, a few months after signing this joint venture, when a first investment was made in the remodeling of the catering and gastronomy points, transferring the proven experience in Soldeu and El Tarter in recent years.
The Pal Arinsal cable car is currently the only way to pass between resorts.
The third phase, after the restoration first and the new lift this year, will be the connection of Pal and Arinsal by track. Up to now, to go from one ski area to the other, it has to be done by cable car. This option forces skiers to remove their equipment and wait for the corresponding cabin to arrive.
The major consul of La Massana, Olga Molné, has assured the Diari d'Andorra, that this third phase, which will begin next summer, will involve the extension of Pal Arinsal in 20 more kilometers of slopes, which added to the current 63 km, could bring the skiable offer to 85 kilometers. Even so, the Andorran politician clarified that:
"It is difficult to put a date on the works. In any case, we want them to progress as quickly as possible. The aim of the investments is to improve the facilities to be able to accommodate more skiers".
The piste connection between Pal and Arinsal could bring 20 km of skiable slopes.
