Cauterets will open its ski season with one and a half meter of snow

The 'accumulator' of snow in the Pyrenees is not afraid of Friday the 13th and is working hard these days to be able to open its ski season on that day.

And Cauterets will do so after having received no less than 150 centimetres of maximum thickness at the top and another 120 at the base.

A snow that will now be reinforced with own production so that once trodden with the machines can be 60 cm of 'cushion' on the slopes of medium to low altitudes and another 80 cm in the higher areas.

The snowfalls have continued today, Monday, although they are tending to subside, and will pick up some momentum again on Thursday, when another light snowfall could fall.

The objective is to get going this coming Friday at 09h in the morning and warm up the engines for the big event of the season, which will be in the two weeks of Christmas, when it is expected that almost 100% of the ski area will be available.

At the moment the forecast is that by this weekend 80% of the ski area will be available for skiing.
