Hotel Alegria El Mar 4* SUP

DO NOT STAY HERE. I WOULDN’T RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL EVEN TO MY WORST ENEMY!

Our bag was stolen directly from the hotel lobby. When we asked to see the CCTV footage for the specific minutes when only we were there, we were refused due to so-called privacy reasons. They can record us all day long, but they supposedly cannot review footage of a personal item left behind, even with our consent, despite the fact that the bag contained our child’s prescription medication and other valuables. The manager, Estrella, said she would call us later that evening and let us know whether the bag had been found. No call ever came, which also suggests that they were simply wasting time. When we contacted the police about the theft, we were told to go to another city to file a report, and they refused to take the report on the spot. A completely negative experience. Not a single employee tried to help or meet us halfway. In our country, people do not steal things even when they are left in public places — not phones, not children’s belongings, not valuables. Apparently, in Spain, they do not know what theft is or what karma is. The restaurant was terrible. It is not a restaurant at all, but more like a subway carriage during rush hour. Constant noise because of the empty echoing space, everything rattles, and you just want to get outside as quickly as possible. It smells like a cafeteria. The food selection for a 4-star hotel could not have been poorer. The pineapples were rotten. One day they served only pineapple cores cut into cubes. Everything looked unappetizing. The squid was tough, and the potatoes were swimming in grease. No normal person would eat that. The glasses on the tables were dirty every day, with lipstick marks and fingerprints on them. Only on the third day, apparently after complaints from guests, did the situation improve slightly. For the first time in four days, there was chicken and potatoes for dinner that even our 2-year-old child would eat. Otherwise, there was simply no food for children. Only powdered yogurts. Tomatoes were repeatedly recycled into different dishes. Overall, this was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. For breakfast, the only fresh and edible food was fried eggs and omelets. The food selection was extremely poor. We were even served pig’s feet, which was shocking to see in a 4-star hotel. Instead of offering a decent variety of food, the menu often consisted of dishes that many guests would not normally choose to eat. There was no entertainment. Everything looked worn out. The lobby is old. The elevators are slow, and you never know which one will arrive. Dogs walk around looking for corners to urinate on. And no room can save this hotel. People go on vacation to have positive experiences. The bed in the room was about 135 cm wide. Two adults and a baby cannot sleep comfortably on it. We had to sleep separately. I would also like to mention the flashing fire safety detector on the ceiling. At night, it illuminated almost the entire room with bright flashes, making it difficult to sleep. We eventually had to cover it with several layers of tape just to reduce the light and get some rest. There were no duvet covers. There was only one sheet instead of a blanket. We stayed at OnaBrava Aqua Hotel, which is also a 4-star hotel, and the difference compared to Alegria El Mar is like night and day. The management clearly does not care what is happening in the hotel. As long as they get paid, everything seems fine to them. I would also like to point out that the hotel effectively has no security service. Anyone can walk in, take whatever they want, do whatever they want, and nobody seems to care. In the event of an emergency, no one will help you and no one takes responsibility. After our bag was stolen, we became completely convinced that guest safety is not a priority here. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones! Another huge problem was the noise. At the neighboring Caprici Verd Hotel, outdoor entertainment continued every evening until 11:30 PM. For all five nights of our stay, we were forced to listen to the same loud songs over and over again. The music was so loud that even closed balcony doors did not block the noise. At the same time, opening the door or window was not an option because of the noise outside, while keeping everything closed made the room feel stuffy and lacking fresh air. After the entertainment ended, groups of young people continued shouting and making noise on the hotel grounds until around 2:00 AM. No one controlled the situation and no one even asked them to be quiet. We walked past many nearby hotels and nowhere else did we experience this level of noise. Only here was the entertainment unbelievably loud and the lack of control so obvious. It is also important to know that there is a drainage canal near the beach. Because of this, there is sometimes a noticeable sewage smell around this area, including near the hotel and near Alegria Beach Hotel. The hotel grounds are poorly maintained. Even in the dining area, the blinds are often left down, making the place feel dark, neglected, and uncared for. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this unsafe hotel to anyone. To the management, I sincerely wish that one day they experience the same level of care and attention that they showed to us as guests. Pay attention to hotels where guests are treated with respect, where everything is clean, safe, and well organized. Learn from the hotels that actually care about their guests instead of simply taking their money. Friends, do not risk your vacation. Choose a better hotel.
