Why go skiing in Serra da Estrela?

Although it does not stand out for being an overly large ski resort (it has 13 skiable kilometers ), it has the characteristic of having slopes for all levels ( 1 black slope, 4 red slopes, 2 blue slopes and 2 green slopes ).. This makes Serra da Estrella the perfect resort to travel as a family and for the little ones to start taking their first steps in the snow and progress properly through all its slopes.

Its highest point is 1,988 meters and this guarantees that the winter fronts that enter from the West discharge snow strongly in this ski resort, which allows it to open from the end of December to the beginning of April.

As if this were not enough, the resort has 48 snow cannons prepared to infuse the skiable surface in case the snow is scarce.

This Portuguese ski resort also has a snowpark so that freestyle lovers can fully enjoy their favorite sport.. On the other hand, families traveling with children and who do not want to ski will be able to enjoy the snow too, since there are 2 toboggan runs suitable for all audiences ... Don't stop the fun!

How to get to Serra da Estrela?

The best option to do it is with your own vehicle. The closest town to the ski resort is Covilhã and it is located about 20 kilometers away and the closest accommodations are located in the town of Penhas da Saúde (Peñas de la Salud), just 10 minutes away by car.
