35% of the 9,185 followers of Sierra Nevada on social networks have chosen Alhambra as the name that replaces the old Veleta II, an old chairlift with a fixed clamp and three people per chair, which this preseason is being replaced by a 6-people detachable chairlift.
The votes have been carried out for a week in an open survey on the social networks of the Granada winter season.
The followers had to choose between the four options that the resort workers had previously selected, among a dozen names referring to peaks, lagoons and places in the Sierra Nevada National Park, and monuments or historical denominations of Granada.
The ski lift chosen for the name change was the Veleta II, in order to avoid redundancies -and some confusion- with the Veleta chairlift, located right next to it in the Borreguiles area.
Thus, the old Veleta II, in addition to becoming a six-people detachable with fewer bollards, greater capacity and speed, will shorten its route by 455 meters to, in connection with the Emile Allais , promote a better distribution of beginner skiers in the Borreguiles area.
