The environmental assessment of the modification project of the Special Urban Plan has received the approval of the Generalitat de Catalunya, despite the fact that the expansion invades ten metres the limits of the Aiguestortes and Llac de Sant Maurici National Park.
The expansion previews the reduction of La Peulla, the incorporation of new uses related to the Aiguestortes y Llac de Sant Maurici National Park visitors attention, the adaptation of the services and car parks, and the redesign of the chairlift system in order to improve the area's connection to the rest of the skiable domain.
The project incorporates strategic environmental impact studies, mobility and landscape integration. The company plans to develop these actions in three stages of six years each, with an estimated total investment of 22.85 million euros.
With this project, two service areas will be strengthened. First, the are of Clot Gran, in the southeast of the area, where a large part of the Aigüestortes National Park facilities will be concentrated, also, the information and assistance services for visitors will also be located. A network of four lifts and tracks will be consolidated, with a new area for beginners, and a new car park will be enabled that can be accessed from the C-28.
The other zone is the nucleus of Cap del Port, in the extreme northwest. Two car park areas will be built and three lifts will be built which will connect with the Clot Gran nucleus and, therefore, with the rest of the ski area in Baqueira Beret.
