About the accommodation

About 15 km from Morzine, Avoriaz has become one of the favourite holiday destinations, with its avant-garde architecture, its infinite offer of activities, its advanced infrastructures and the huge ski area of Portes du Soleil, which connects with Switzerland . This ski residence, located at the entrance of the complex, near the car parks, is easily accessible and close to bars, a restaurant, a small supermarket, a bakery and sports shops. You will also enjoy direct access to the ski slopes from all buildings. The city of Chambéry is about 95 km from the accommodation, while the international airports of Cointrin and Saint-Exupéry are 110 and 250 km away respectively. This residence, made up of several buildings, is located at the top of La Falaise and offers the most beautiful panoramic view of the Morzine valley (Malinka buildings, Saskia 2). It is a strictly pedestrian complex where parents and children can move around in an absolutely safe and healthy environment.. The building, with 292 bedrooms, is fully air-conditioned and has a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service, safe, cloakroom, currency exchange, lift, cafeteria, bar, restaurant and hairdressing salon, as well as Internet access and car park. The apartments come with a kitchen with 3 or 4 burners, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a dishwasher and a coffee maker. In addition, they have a vacuum cleaner, direct dial telephone, satellite TV, radio, Internet connection, washing machine and balcony, heating, air conditioning and bathroom with shower/bathtub and hairdryer. The hotel offers half board. You can choose dinner from a menu. Drive towards Chamonix on the A41 and take exit 18 for Cluses. From there continue towards Taninges on the D902 and then towards Les Gets and Morzine - Avoriaz (the distance from Morzine to Avoriaz is 15 km). Avoriaz is a pedestrian complex. The complex has car park.

Closeness to the car park, amazing view over the valley to Morzine.

Saturday 17th I phone the residence, after receiving information from Esquiades, to check arrival detail as we’d arrive after midnight on Sunday the 18th. I was assured everything was taken care of and I’d be given a room access code when I arrive. Sunday 18th after midnight I arrive at Pierre et Vacances reception only for them to know nothing about my booking or have any knowledge about my room! Monday 19th 02:00 I phone Esquiades for help, Melannie Perales was fantastic but couldn’t gain my room access details. She then tried to find a solution whilst I waited. Whilst I waited the Pierre et Vacances receptionist was very helpful and called around trying to find us a room for the night. It turns out that the reception at Pierre et Vacances do not manage this room booked with Esquiades, in fact it was another company who had no out of hours emergency contact. At 03:00 we found a room at Mil8 in Avoriaz, the only room available at that time of night in the whole resort! I was informed to stay here the night and the next day my booked room access would be fixed, and that the charge for Mil8 would be refunded. Monday morning 09:25 I was sent access details to the apartment. On arrival to the room the access code didn’t work, a couple more phone calls later we were given a new code, it worked and we could enter the room at 11:00. The apartment was very disappointing, to say the least, it was awful! Having stayed in Avoriaz many times before I knew some of the apartments are a little run down, but this was the worst I’d seen. Apart from being very run down, the bathroom door handle was hanging loose, heavy mould in the bathroom, sofa and cushions were covered in stains, as was the carpet. To add there was no bed sheets or towels, another phone call later informed that we hadn’t booked them and it would be Tuesday before we could receive any, so that night we slept without bed sheets! During the day on Tuesday they arrived, very old and tired but at least we had some. We also had no ski room, so needed to carry all our kit up and down each time. No luggage locker, so when we checked out on Thursday I had to carry all our things to the car parked, and then get change in the car park before leaving. Pierre et Vacances could offer ski room and luggage storage but wouldn’t help me because they didn’t manage my apartment! There were some good parts, the view from the apartment was beautiful. The skiing and weather was fantastic. Esquiades tried their very best and the 24/7 customer call line was a God send, fantastic service from everyone I spoke to there, very appreciated.
