WHERE TO SKI IN MARCH

With temperatures rising, the best places to ski in March are the resorts at a decent altitude. These include Val Thorens (the highest ski areain the French Alps , at around 2,300m and with slopes up to 3,230m); La Plagne 2100 (resorts at an altitude of between 1,970m and 2,050m, with skiing up to 3,250m on the Bellecote Glacier), orVal d'Isère (at 1,850m and with slopes up to 3,300m) ideal for intermediate and advanced skiers and Andorra, that offers plenty to do on and off the slopes.

ANDORRA

Andorra is an excellent option, Vallnord Pa-Arinsal , Grandvalira & Ordino Arcalís are great ski resorts for March skiing and offer a wide choice of north-facing (cold snow out of the sun, ideal for afternoon skiing) and south-facing slopes, which are warm in the mornings and mellow if it has frozen overnight.

Because March is such a popular month, the slopes can get very busy, especially during the Easter holidays , so this is the time of year to relax, soak up the sun, soak up the atmosphere and take it easy on the slopes and in the bars. The lifts are open longer and it's easy to access.

Andorra has positioned itself as a country that goes far beyond the typical snow destination, offering first lesson infrastructures and different complementary services that make skiing a unique experience in every sense.

Best temperatures

We know how much you love the snow (as much as we do!) But you can't deny that being able to go down the Grandvalira slopes without getting cold is a perfect plan. The arrival of spring will allow you to ski the more than 200 km of the ski area with pleasant temperatures and without worrying about possible colds and wind.

More sunshine

Although this year Grandvalira offers the interesting possibility of skiing at night, there is nothing like a blue sky on a sunny day.

During the third month of the year, you are more likely to have such a day in the snow and enjoy incredible views on the slopes. In addition, there are more hours of sunshine, so you can ski for longer without worrying about the time if you feel like taking advantage of the afternoon to discover other facets of Andorra.

And without losing the quality of the snow!

The fact that March is almost the last month of the ski season doesn't mean that the snow in the resort is worse or that you can access fewer slopes. Grandvalira acquired new state-of-the-art snow cannons in 2017 to ensure that at least 65% of the skiable surface. A network of more than 1,030 cannons that will complement the natural snow that this year is being very abundant and will allow you to enjoy 100% of your ski day.
