Formigal will debut a new chairlift next season that will link Izas and Anayet

Aramón Formigal should have launched a new six-people detachable chairlift this winter that will link the lower part of the resort near the Sarrios car park, with the Lanuza pass.

And a second chairlift in the same ski area, a fixed clamp lift, Pico Royo, the 2021-22 season.

The first chairlift is finished, but it could not be started because the Aramón resorts have not opened their ski lifts due to Covid-19.

And the second is about to begin construction. With which, the two new lifts could be released at the same time, the next ski season.

The mayor of Sallent de Gállego, Jesús Gericó, explains to the Diario del Altoaragón that “this intervention was already approved last year. When they took out the tender for the civil works, both the Lanuza chairlift and this other one in Pico Royo were awarded, and now the works are scheduled to begin ”.

The objective of the two new lifts is the same: the connection from Izas with Anayet that functions as another access to the resort and allows to decongest the Collado ski area.

The Formigal ski resort could not open this past season due to restrictions in the Community of Aragon.

The new lift is included in the redesign of the Alto de Izas ski area and connection with Anayet, of the project for the expansion and remodeling of the Formigal ski resort. It has an environmental impact report that complements the environmental impact statement, issued by the General Directorate of Environmental Quality in a Resolution of August 12, 2003, in relation to the expansion project.

This Monday, May 10, the Official Gazette of Aragon (BOA) has approved submitting the project "Chairlift B14-Pico Royo" to the public information process, so that within a period of 20 working days, all those natural or legal persons as well as Public or private law corporations that consider themselves interested in the procedure may examine the documentation and present, where appropriate, the allegations they deem appropriate.

As soon as this process passes, the works are scheduled to begin.
