Sierra Nevada now has 11 kilometres skiable as of Saturday
The ski resort of Sierra Nevada has opened today, at 10.30 am, El Río, the iconic slope that connects the area of Borreguiles with the urbanization of Pradollano. With the opening of this route, the winter resort not only adds skiable surface (another 3.2 kilometres) and slope (550 meters) but also allows the ski descent to the urbanization, which until now was done by cable car.
At the same time, El Zorro, an intermediate level blue run, one of the most popular and frequented slopes in the Borreguiles area, has been added. The snow report has 9 runs, 11 skiable kilometres and 925 meters of vertical drop.
The snow production, favored by the new generation center inaugurated this season, has allowed this opening and, if the weather conditions are favorable, other new slopes will be added to the snow report in the next few days.
The Stadium chairlift, meanwhile, came into operation this Friday for the first time this season. There are already in operation: 1 gondola lift, Borreguiles; 5 chairlifts (Stadium, Emile Allais, Alhambra, Veleta and Parador) and 2 conveyor belts, Borreguiles and El Bosque.
The opening of the Rio slope allows skiing from Borreguiles to Pradollano.
