The Association Renouveau Val d'Ossau has just presented its project "4 seasons" to allow the survival of skiing in Gourette and Artouste and all the local economy that derives from it.
The entity was born in 2018 and, since then, works for a reasoned development of the Valley that allows saving the present and satisfying future generations.
The association is made up of more than 1,500 owners, merchants, ski clubs, instructors, ski patrollers and ski lift technicians, considered “the guarantors of the credibility of the proposals we formulate based on numerous meetings with people who have judicious ideas. to communicate ”, they explain on their website.
Its promoters justify its creation "to avoid an economic disaster for Val d'Ossau" and restore the dynamism and quality services of the Gourette and Artouste ski resorts, "which is very necessary".
The association is in favor of a harmonious and sustainable development "with solutions, whenever possible, without visual impact, without consumption of electrical energy, without maintenance costs and with reduced personnel costs".
They are aware that Gourette and Artouste currently need skiers and that skiing is the future of the Val d'Ossau. "There is no other alternative for an urgent economic rebound. Our solutions are new slopes and access to new sectors, making the Valley more attractive, as well as modern lifts "
The main lines of your project are divided into 6 stages:
- An administrative stage that consists of claiming the membership of the Gourette ski resort of Vallon d'Anglas, accessible from the arrival resort of the Anglas ski lift "and not used to date due to ignorance of the topography and lack of ambition" .
- One step to optimize the current infrastructure of the Gourette ski area.
- Start the expansion of the Gourette ski area with the opening of new sectors (Cinto Blanque, southern slope of Pène Blanque, Hourquette d'Arre, Vallée Blanche, etc.) by building infrastructures of very moderate cost, but with great impact .
- One step to optimize the infrastructure of the Artouste ski resort.
- A stage of uniting the ski areas of Gourette and Artouste and creating a “4 seasons” point by installing a cable car that connects the Col de la Sagette with the Plateau d'Arre and which is an attraction in itself for skiing in winter and hike in summer, with a tour of the lakes of Labedan, Uzious and Anglas and the lakes of Ayous. The resort resulting from the union would exceed 100 km of slopes.
- A stage of development of synergies between the Gourette-Artouste and Aramón Formigal ski resorts and the cultural poles of the Ossau and Tena valleys.
