1 The extension by Castanesa would increase the ski domain of Cerler to more than 100 km
The Minister of Economy, Industry and Employment of the Government of Aragon, Marta Gastón, advanced on Monday: "We are already in the phase of technical study to immediately boost the expansion of Cerler by Castanesa with the first chairlift ."
The project is now on the agenda of the meeting of the Board of Directors of the snow group and has already gathered the reactions of the municipalities of the valleys of Baliera, Noguera-Ribagorzana and Isábena that, in one way or another, will be seen affected by Cerler's growth.
The information is published by El Heraldo de Aragón and the Diario del Alto Aragón , among other media, indicates that Gastón's announcement came within the framework of a breakfast colloquium organized by the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Huesca and the Chamber of Commerce, where he said that the union of stations (Astún, Formigal and Candanchú) "will be a reality", with the agreement of the territory and with criteria of sustainability and advanced - without specifying calendar - that the extension of Cerler will be the one that will be carried out more immediately.
The union of stations (Astún, Formigal and Candanchú) "will be a reality," said Marta Gastón.
And it is that the limit to start this growth towards the Castanesa valley ends in 2020, according to the term established by the declaration of favorable environmental impact of the Aragón General Interest Project (PIGA). If at that time the works have not started, the project will go back to the exit box .
Cerler's dream of expanding towards Ardonés and the Castanesa peak is not new, although the last proposal on the table dates from March 2003:
The extension by Castanesa would increase the ski domain of Cerler to more than 100 km
Broadly speaking, four parts are planned: the improvement of the Benasque-Cerler Molino and Cerler Molino-Ampriu road and expansion of the Ampriu parking and services area; the excitement of the upper part of the blue Basibé slope and the opening of a new variant red slope of the Basibé blue; the connection with the Castanesa and Ardonés peak - with a new 6 seater detachable chairlift - and the management of the Castanesa-Ardonés Peak sector .
The extension will allow extending the 77 kilometres of the current ski area to more than 100 and have two accesses to the winter center, one from Benasque and another from Castanesa.
