This installation is one of the initiatives promoted by the agreement signed on Friday by the Secretary of Environment and Sustainability of the Generalitat, Marta Subirà, and the president of Ferrocarrils of the Generalitat of Catalonia (FGC), Ricard Font, with the objective of creating joint promotional actions between the National Park of Aigüestortes and Lake Sant Maurici and the Espot resort, the Ministry of Territory and Sustainability has informed in a statement.
Subirá and Font have signed another agreement with the same objective between the Natural Park of Alt Pirineu and the Port Ainé resort whereby a new centenary fir display will be installed at the Cota 2000 hotel, which will include climatic information and events and a vehicle eco-counter will be installed to improve the visitor count. An ecological ashtray will also be distributed free of charge to the skiers who smoke.
Secretary Marta Subirà stressed that the objective of the agreements is to promote knowledge and dissemination of the natural environment of Catalonia among visitors to natural parks and has valued the collaboration with FGC, to "make known to visitors that they arrive at the mountain resorts looking for sport and adventure that there are many more things, that are in an environment surrounded by nature and biodiversity. "
For his part, Ricard Font stressed that "the FGC resorts are partners and entrance gate of the natural parks, partners of the territory and want to develop a strategy that has to do with the values of the landscape, nature, sport, the zero kilometer gastronomy, the economic development of the territory and the seasonal adjustment ".
