Ensisa-Grandvalira has been committed to sustainability for some years now.
For Grandvalira Soldeu - El Tarter, sustainability and respect for the environment are a priority, especially during the organization of international competitions. Therefore, the goal is to achieve in the immediate future fully decarbonized World Cup events.
Thus, during the weeks of preparation for the Soldeu 2024 Women's Alpine Skiing World Cup, a pilot test will be carried out using a 100% plant-based renewable fuel in the snow grooming machines. This is hydrobiodiesel (HVO), which is produced from organic waste and therefore has lower greenhouse gas emissions. This will reduce CO2 emissions in internal mobility by up to 90%.
This action complements the rest of the measures foreseen in the Soldeu 2024 World Cup Sustainability Plan, starting with the use of 100% renewable energy thanks to the Llum Verda (Green Light) seal that Grandvalira Soldeu - El Tarter has.
In terms of waste, much of the equipment used in previous editions of the World Cup will be reused, and this year an extra effort will be made in waste collection, not only after the event but also during the race days.
On the other hand, the technical team is adapting snow production strictly to the needs of the piste, thanks to the careful technical information obtained from the technical systems of the snowmaking systems. The technical team is also adapting snow production strictly to the needs of the slope, thanks to the careful technical information obtained from sonar and GPS mapping systems, weather forecasts and hydrogeological studies commissioned by the resort.
To promote sustainable mobility among World Cup spectators, the "We transport you like a VIP" project is being launched during the days of the competition , aimed at people traveling in vehicles occupied by 4 or more people. These spectators will be able to leave the vehicle in the VIP car park lot of El Tarter and will be transported free of charge by minibus to the foot of the Avet de Soldeu slope where the races are held.
On the other hand, in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility, the resort is committed to continue promoting the values of accessibility and inclusion, so it has continued working to make accessible to everyone both the information of the event. through the web and various publications, as well as the competition itself, which will take place on February 10 and 11.
For this reason, a new footbridge has been acquired to optimize the movement to the stands of the Avet track for people with mobility problems, and new signage has been reinforced throughout the village of Soldeu. In addition, a team of volunteers will help people with some kind of functional diversity to get to their people. In addition, this year 5% of the profits from the sale of race tickets will go to the Andorran Association Against Cancer (ASSANDCA).
Finally, the most important sporting event in the Pyrenees of the winter season will also continue to serve as a showcase for local gastronomic products. In this sense, the communication of the Andorran origin of these products will be reinforced to make them known both in the catering area of the runners and their teams and in the VIP areas.
