Last Thursday, 16 March, there was a briefing about the state of play and community management resorts Mountain Arinsal-Pal (EMAP). The president of the organization, David Baró, presented the Strategic Plan and investment of the Pal Arinsal ski resort, arguing that it is a "realistic and prudent" action, as it will modernize and improve the resort, but without changing the financial structure of society and generate deficits.
The planned investment for the next two years is 6.7 million euros and will provide the resort with new equipment, expanding facilities and creating new points of artificial snow. The most prominent action will enhance the gateway to Pal from Coll de la Botella through a new service buildin that will offer facilities and food areas, lockers and also a ski school. Construction will begin in May and the inauguration of the new area is scheduled for December 1st. The cost of the project is 2.3 million euros.
They have also planned to invest 100,000 euros in the Pla de la Cot: after three years, the service building has already become a focal point of the resort. The terrace will be expanded and toilets will be built in the outer area, in order to reduce crowds in the building.
For the financial year 2018/2019 the Plan provides various measures to improve the skiable areas, either by expanding and adapting slopes or creating new points of artificial snowmaking, in addition to renewing some services. As for the expansion of slopes, there's 640,000 euros to be allocated to the slopes of Bec, the Gall, Transversal and Joan Carchat in order to reduce crowds and improve mobility in the begginers and intermediate slopes. As for the stadium Joan Carchat, it is expected to be expanded to accommodate high - level slopes.
On the other hand, Pal Arinsal will ensure artificial snow with an investment of 2.8 million euros: in Pal, new snow cannons will be installed on the slopes of the Red Font and Transversal; in Arinsal, a raft of water more than 20,000 m3 will be built in the area Comallempla, tripling the production capacity of snow. In addition to the raft, the investment also includes a new engine room and improving access to Marrades.
The investments planned for the 2018/2019 season are supplemented with improvements in facilities and activities in the area of the Caubella, expanding the Arinsal ski school and remodeling the self-service points of the resort.
