N'PY opens its ski resorts with a free Ski Pass and lots of snow

The ski resorts of N'PY are now getting ready for the new 2021-2022 ski season. They have had to wait over a year to reach this point as they where on hold imposed by the protocol measures to avoid the COVID contagion, which included the unpopular measure of allowing the ski resorts to open, but restricting the use of the ski lifts.

Gourette with thicknesses of 60 to 110 cm, and La Pierre Saint Martin - Arette with thicknesses of 130 to 170 cm, have decided to provisionally open their doors even though the season has not yet started, this is thanks to the exceptional snowfalls they've had this November. They are opening from Saturday 4 to Wednesday 8 December. They will then close for two days, and then open again on the weekend of the 11th to the 12th of December, and after close again until the 17th December which is when the ski season kicks off.

Peyragudes, November 2021

The ski resort of Peyragudes is also in good shape and to celebrate it, they are giving away the beginners' ski pass for the whole weekend, Saturday and Sunday. And if that not enough, the ESF instructors will be giving free lessons on those two days. The 3 sectors (Serre Doumenge, Agudes and Peyresourde) will be open. The whole domain will be accessible thanks to the 4 chairlifts. The Skyvall gondola lift linking Loudenvielle to the foot of the slopes will also be operational and will allow easy access to the resort regardless of the road conditions.

In Cauterets, both resorts open on Friday 3. The main ski resort opens with exceptional thicknesses of 150 cm at the foot of the slopes. While its 'little sister' Cauterets - Pont d'Espagne opens the following day, Saturday 4th December, both its chairlift and Nordic ski slopes, while the alpine slopes open on 18th December.

Grand Tourmalet has reported that they already have two meters of snow. It is probably the first resort in the Pyrenees to reach such thicknesses. 13 chairlifts will be open and the initiation, evolution and Grand Domaine areas will be open. The Tremplin and Grange carpet will be free for beginners on the 4th and 5th of December.

From the top, you will be able to see the open Pic du Midi, which offers ideal conditions for the longest freeride in the Pyrenees.

The snow forecast for N'PY Piau-Engaly and Luz Ardiden completes the snow report. The first one with a thickness of 140 cm at the foot of the slopes, opens the whole of its ski area except for the Hourc sector. The second reports snow thicknesses ranging from 110 to 150 cm, allowing it to open its more than 60 km of pistes.

COVID-19 Prevention

On November 6, the French government under conditions to guarantee sanitary conditions authorised the opening of ski resorts for the 21/22 season. The protocols imposed are to have the Covid Certificate to access the ski lifts (from 12 years of age). The use of an approved mask will be compulsory for those over 11 years of age in the queues, ski lifts, cable cars and also chairlifts where physical distance is not possible. Access to chairlifts, ski mats and ski descents are allowed without a mask.

All automated equipment in the ski resorts of N'PY, are prepared to allow access only to those who show the Covid Certificate.
