On April 8 the Grandvalira ski resort closed the season with an increase in ski passes sold of 2% over the previous year. Thanks to this the largest resort in southern Europe is positioned in the Top 15 of the world ranking of alpine ski resorts in terms of customer influx.
This year skiers from France, the United Kingdom, Russia and Belgium and the Nordic countries have managed to increase the international ski market, also, turnover has increased 15% this last year (40% the last 3 seasons).
The snowfall that has been registered this year has achieved thickness of 8 m and 36 cm of snow . On the other hand, this season has been marked by unfavorable weather conditions during weekends.
This season, Grandvalira has invested 11 million euros in: innovation of the facilities, quality and customer service. In the same way, the restoration has been a great bet this year. The second edition of the Snow Club Gourmet was held with the presence of the confectioner Christian Escribà.
The Igloo Hotel has also been a great center of attention, through sculptures of ice some works of the Carmen Thyssen collection have been reproduced. The family and debutante audience has also been spoiled this season investing in the improvement of: snow gardens and children's circuits.
During the month of March, Grandvalira hosted major sports events. For example, the test for the Finals of the Alpine Skiing European Cup ; which will take place from March 11 to 17, 2019 in the ski resorts of Soldeu and El Tarter.
The 14th edition of the Total Fight Masters of Freestyle was also held at El Tarter Snowpark where the best riders showed off with great tricks. Finally, the Kilometer Launched World Cup celebrated its seventh edition in which Simone Origone and Valentina Greggio collected their Crystal Globes .
