With little more than four weeks left in the ski season, which in the case of the Huesca ski resorts is scheduled for March 31, the Aragonese Pyrenees have recorded the heaviest snowfall of the season. A snow that has left some thicknesses that already guarantee the rest of the season.
In Formigal, which has been receiving snow for several days, yesterday's measurements at the closing of the slopes already reached 185 cm, while in the Aragon Valley have more than doubled their thicknesses, passing in the case of Candanchú from 60 cm to 140 cm measured yesterday afternoon,
The snowfall has buried a ski area of Astún
The snowfall also closed since yesterday at noon the border ports of Somport (at the height of Canfranc), and Portalet, both due to the risk of avalanches that entail the strong gusts of wind. It is expected that throughout today, Wednesday, they can be opened, at least from the Spanish side.
The DGT website still marks the Portalet and Somport ski passes as closed.
Regarding the ski resorts, in Candanchú and Astún until yesterday afternoon had already received between 70 and 80 cm of snow. In Formigal another 30 cm, which are added to what has fallen these days, which makes it become the winter resort with more snow in the Pyrenees, with up to 185 cm at the moment that are measured in Izas. In Panticosa, on the other hand, the maximums are in the 80 cm of Petrosos.
