The ski and mountain resorts of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya work together with the protected natural areas in their area of influence, managed by the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda.
The main objective is to promote the values of respect for nature, the environment and knowledge of the natural environment and local cultural heritage, as well as to ensure the regulation of uses so that tourist activity is developed in these spaces and peripheral areas in a way that respects the environment.
For this reason, each resort signs an annual collaboration agreement with its protected area of reference:
These agreements specify joint actions , including the signposting and adaptation of trails and circuits, the opening of viewpoints with panoramic tables to get to know the environment or different actions based on highlighting the value of the natural spaces.
Alt Pirineu Natural Park
FGC also participates at a national level in the dissemination of tourism promotion hotel offers aimed at fostering tourism demand in outbound markets close to the territory, as well as contributing to the projection of the attractions of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park. and contribute to projecting the tourist attractions of the Pyrenees in outbound markets abroad through the Pirineus Programme, run by the Catalan Tourism Agency (Agència Catalana de Turisme).
FGC is committed to sport and nature, inviting the public to visit its resorts. A wide range of activities are proposed to go out and enjoy the Pyrenees. Every year, each resort signs a collaboration agreement with its protected area of reference.
Port Ainé, for example, in collaboration with the Alt Pirineu Natural Park, has snowshoe itineraries signposted with informative panels on flora and fauna, and signs designed by local artists with messages for the pbooking of the environment.
In addition, this winter season has released the new astronomical viewpoint located 200 meters from the Hotel de Port Ainé. Where visitors can observe the constellations and live a night astronomical experience.
In the case of Espot, the activity focuses on the National Park of Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici, the only national park in Catalonia. It has forests of firs and black pines and is watered by almost 200 high mountain ponds where the chamois, capercaillie, marmot and the mythical bearded vulture find refuge.
Now with the arrival of Easter, the good weather and the thaw, we find a space that invites you to walk and enjoy the surrounding landscapes. In years when there is still a lot of snow, the Espot ski resort offers you the possibility to do it with snowshoes.
Other activities to take into account in the Pallars Sobirà for this Easter is the visit to the village of Espot itself, very quiet at this time and where you can taste the mountain gastronomy without forgetting a walk through the church of Santa Llogaia, the Torre dels Moros, and the bridges of the Capella and Torrassa.
Espot Village
Another alternative is the Ecomuseu of Esterri d'Àneu dedicated to the ethnography of the Àneu valleys and the rest of Pallars. Along with the Casa Gassia, they perfectly reflect the activities carried out by families during the first half of the twentieth century.
Another space, in this case not very well known but highly recommended, is the MónNatura Pirineus. It is a Fauna Center with animal species that, at the time of birth, had problems, and as a consequence, their mother did not participate in the lactation. These animals are brought to the center and they can recover and dignify their lives in a state similar to that of their natural habitat.
And of course, the star activity of Pallars: rafting. The season started this March, and runs until autumn.
