How can I get to the Glacier to ski?

Summer skiing takes place on the Grande Motte glacier, one of the highest in Europe where you can practice skiing and snowboarding . To access there you can do it with your ski pass , which will be delivered to you at the ski resort ticket offices.

Special care is given to this glacier in winter in order to keep the snow in places where it is usually scarce in summer, such as rocky areas. The Perce-Neige funicular will take you from the centre of the town of Tignes in just 7 minutes .. You will arrive at the Grande Motte restaurant and if you want to continue your journey on the funicular you can ascend to an altitude of 3,456 meters, to the highest point of the ski resort.

During the summer season, the resort offers around 20 skiable kilometers . These are between 3,656 and 3,000 meters above sea level, so there is always perpetual snow. Depending on the degree of difficulty of the tracks, you will find blue, red and black.

Does the ski pass include any other activity apart from skiing?

At the Tignes tourist office you can get the My Tignes card, starting at €45 per adult for one week. You can also order it directly at your accommodation during your stay (contact the accommodation prior to your arrival to confirm that they offer this service as not all accommodations do).

My Tignes card is a card with an embedded microchip that will allow you to access various activities in Tignes Val Claret and Tignes Le Lac.

How many days are enough to visit Tignes in summer?

In summer, the Tignes resort does not have as many skiable kilometers as in winter, so it may not be necessary to spend a whole week. Surely, with about 4 or 5 days you will have enough to enjoy a little skiing in the morning and all the activities in the afternoon.

When is the best time to ski in Tignes in summer?

Our advice is to make your booking to go as soon as possible. If it's in June, better. The reason is that the resort opens in mid-June and at that time, due to the altitude of the glacier, there are still occasional snowfalls, making it the perfect time to enjoy the powder snow in the middle of summer.
But if you can't go in June, don't worry. During the months of July and August the days are hotter, so apart from skiing, you can also practice other water activities on Lake Tignes. Is incredible!
What is the best way to get to Tignes?

- By plane:
Tignes has several nearby airports including Lyon, Geneva, Chambéry and Grenoble . The closest to access the resort is Lyon or Geneva, both are 2 hours and a half away.
Once you land at the above airports, you can hire a transfer or rental car to get to Tignes resort

- By car:

If you want to enjoy the spectacular alpine landscapes in summer, we recommend that you travel by car. Tignes resort is only 2 hours from Grenoble, 4 hours from Turin, 5 hours from Montpellier and 7 and a half hours from Paris.
